PARIS (Reuters) – Travelers returning from areas with Zika virus outbreak will have to wait at least 28 days before donating blood to reduce the risk of transmission, said the minister of the French Health, Marisol Touraine on Sunday.

The virus, which is spreading rapidly throughout the Americas and whose outbreak was declared an emergency global health by the World Health Organization (WHO), is mainly transmitted through the bite of a gnat, with other possible means of transmission still being studied.
